Great post, Alyssa! So true!

In my house, the kids have to earn their TV time. When we first started it, my three girls baulked!! They were so mad! I am a reader so I really didn't mind the TV being off. When they do their chores without having to be told, or are caught being nice to a sister, they get a poker chip with 15m, 30m, or 1h on it - that can be turned it on the weekends for TV time.

It has made all the difference in our home. My girls play dolls with each other, make forts out of the tables, and turn their beds into castles complete with the surrounding moats! We keep a big dress-up bin in their room, too, filled with after-Halloween clearance costumes and Mom's old high-heels.

I think children need that creative process to become brilliant thinkers!

I often let my daughter to my hair and nails! Yes, a four year old with a bottle of nail polish is a bit scary, but she loves it!
